An “Old Time” worship service will be held on January 18th, our last event commemorating our 225th Anniversary. The service will be from the early 1800s, approximately at the time ELC began the transition to English services from German. The service of the time featured very few congregational responses, and many hymns we are familiar with today were not written yet. At that time, the women and children sat together on one side of the church, and men sat on the other side. A few rows will be reserved for anyone who wants to take part in this. The pastor and choir will wear period-appropriate gowns, and the organ will be played with just reed stops.
Following the service, you are invited to join us for a period luncheon (beef and potatoes with vegetables and dessert) in the Memorial Fellowship Hall. We will have a display of our time capsule with materials available to write letters to family (or to yourself) when it is opened in 25 years.
